Shadows of Control publishes Real Stories with the goal of helping others to learn about domestic abuse in all its forms, including verbal abuse, emotional abuse, physical abuse, sexual abuse, financial abuse, medical abuse, or any other form of abuse that involves an abuser’s attempts to control, dominate and diminish their partner. Originality

All stories submitted must be your own original work.

Style and Format

Stories can be written in the first or third person and should be between 600 and 1000 words.

Privacy

Unless you are a public figure or your story is already publicly available in the news, for your own safety, please do not include any personally identifiable information.

Editing

Shadows of Control may edit submissions as necessary for clarity, conciseness, grammar, spelling, style, and length. We always keep the writer's original concept, context, intent or idea intact when editing.

Compensation

Shadows of Control does not provide payment for voluntary submissions. However, we are happy to link to your own website or social media pages if you wish.
